Today I have transcribed David Rawlings' solo break from Gillian Welch's "Hard Times".
First we have the 4 measure break from "The Harrow and The Harvest" record followed by Rawlings' slightly longer 6 measure improvisation from a performance on November 7, 2011 at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Rawlings has as affinity for tight intervals of major and minor 2nds so whenever two notes can ring into each other to create those intervals make sure your fingerings are clean so that the tension can really be pronounced within the melodic line.
