David Hinckley is a guitarist and music educator from Arlington, MA. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and has studied with Jim Campilongo, Bruce Bartlett, and Steve Walsh among others. After 20+ years working as a sideman in the Boston area and touring the country with a variety of acts his focus is now on his role as a music educator and bandleader performing his original compositions of instrumental guitar music. Although Hinckley was raised on Classic Rock, as his musicianship developed he became drawn to the Early Rock n Roll, R&B, Soul, Blues, Jazz, and Country music of the 1950's through the early 70's. These sounds now inform his approach to songwriting and improvisation. Along with these distinctly American styles of music he also continues to study Cuban and African guitar music from the same time period.
As a teacher David explores all genres and styles of music based on student's interests. With 20+ years of teaching experience his bag of tricks is deep and he holds an impressive knowledge of musical styles. Whether the student is a child, teenager, or adult David knows all the ways to help them achieve their guitar playing goals.
